A contactless deployment in the Norwegian city of Tromsø highlights how the technology really is making a move into all the corners of the planet.
Located just 2,000KM from the North Pole, it is the most northerly location so far to trial the benefits of contactless. In 2008, it held a small transport ticketing pilot involving 30 users. During the four-week pilot, which was backed by Telenor and Cominor, participants could use Samsung handsets to pay for bus tickets.
