Polish Payment goes NFC: Warsaw, Wroclaw and Poznan enter the League.

Mobile network operator  Polkomotel has partnered with BZ WBK Bank to run a NFC payments trial in the cities of Warsaw, Wroclaw and Poznan. The trial is to start at the beginning of June this year.

During the coming weeks, the five hundred customers who are to be given a NFC phone will be selected from the Visa payWave Under 30 programm, which was set up in 2008 targeting students in the academic centres Warsaw, Wroclaw and Poznan. The phones will be loaded over the air with contactless cards issued by BZ WBK and consumers taking part in the trial will be able to use them to make payments at any of the ca. 3500 NFC merchant locations in place, including Empik, McDonald’s, Coffee Heaven and Shell stations.
