Eskisehir, Turkey: an example of the cashless city of the future?

Here we have a small video of the launch of Esparacard in the beautiful Turkish city of Eskisehir. Launched in December 2011, the Eskisehir money card (Esparacard, as it is known locally) allows the people of Eskisehir to enjoy the benefits of their new electronic ticketing system for transit as well as for shopping, cinemas and restaurants, therefore eliminating the need and reliance on cash.

Eskisehir’s renovated electronic ticket system is a modern system integrated with a banking infrastructure that enables the usage of payment cards from all banks. The Mayor of Eskisehir, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen says it was the expertise, collaboration, and partnership between the Electronic Ticket System Operation of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, Garanti Bank and MasterCard that brought the Esparacard to life.

Esparacard is also the first transport card with M/Chip Advance, the new payment platform of MasterCard.
